I can't believe it's already been a week since we arrived in Valencia. It went by so fast. At the same time... I can't believe I've only been in Spain for a week and a half.
Today was the first day I have slept in since we left for this marvelous country. I slept until 11:00 and probably could have continued to sleep until much later. Our curtains keep light out of our room completely. When I woke up this morning, I thought it was still early, but no... it was muy tarde.
Laura and I wrote songs about Spanish food today. Hopefully we'll be able to share them with you.
After eating lunch, Laura and I decided to walk about and enjoy the sunshine. We took some pictures and some videos. I'll upload them to facebook because it takes forever to upload videos on this blog.
Later, we went with a group to the museum de las fallas. Las fallas is an anual, week-long valencian festival where people build giant structures that are like satirical cartoons in the streets and set off fireworks everyday. On the last day of the festival, they set all of the structures on fire. It's kind of cool, but mostly creepy.
let me show you:
We saw Fallas that had been built in the 1930's at the museum. It was very cool to see how long the tradition has lasted and how it has evolved over the years, but I have to be honest.... I was kind of grossed out by most of the structures. A lot of them were pretty creepy or just plain gross. I know they're meant to be some sort of social commentary, but I don't care... I didn't like them.
On our way to the fallas museum, we walked through el río. I am astounded at how beautiful that park is.
Here are pictures from the day:
Looks like an awesome trip; I'm soo glad you are finally there. God is good. Sorry i missed your skype today, I was talking with mom and anthony but please do call back!
