What I learned in class today...

This is what I get to learn about in my culture class:

The above link is of "King Africa's" version of Paquito el Chocolatero- a pasadoble written in the 1930's. There is a traditional dance that goes with this song, which you get to see a little of in the video. I got to see it FOR REAL at a concert last week at a pre-fallas celebration. The band played this song and the whole crowd danced. Very simple, but so much fun: everyone put there arms and moved forward and backwards until the "hey" part of the song came, when everyone bowed forward and screamed "Hey!" to the rhythm of the song. So much fun.

This is the spanish version of a cha-cha slide... the "chiki chiki"
El chiki chiki se baila así (The chiki chiki is danced like this):

1. El Breikindance (the breaking dance)
2. El Crusaíto (the cross)
3. El Maichel Yason (The Michael Jackson)
4. El Robocop (the Robo Cop)
.... Sorry I couldn't find a more appropriate video to show you the dance. :(

Además....

This is interesting... apparently comical to Spaniards. Paco paco paco is a song from the 60's that has the time timing as "single ladies."

This is the Inspector Gadget theme song in French. The translation below is someone's attempt to write out what it sounds like the guy is singing in English.

And that's all I got :)
